Spam is only good when eaten out of a can

As one of the administrators of this message board, it is somewhat common to find a new member has actually joined just to post spurious links; these spammers have no interest in the Titanic or her era, but are instead paid by Internet businesses for each web site they infest and for each post that they make.

Very often, I log on to discover that another member has flagged a spammer's post for immediate attention, and I wanted to say thank you to those of you who are vigilant and proactive.

If you notice a post from anyone that mentions goods and services for sale, or who have active links as a signature, please use the report feature on that post to flag it so that I or one of the other administrators or moderators can quickly find and remove not only that post, but to ban the spammer as well. Often, you will find that a section of a post from that thread has been copied in their reply, but no matter -- if the post contains spam, it will be removed.

Thanks for your help -- it is deeply appreciated.
